Obituary

Frankie Richard Blassic, the man who could light up a room with his laughter as easily as he could clear a buffet, has taken his final bow on the stage of life. Born on August 31, 1973, in the bustling town of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Frankie grew up to be the embodiment of joy and the unofficial mayor of every gathering. On November 30, 2024, at the age of 51, he wrapped up his grand performance in Wayne, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a secret beef stew recipe that could win awards.

Frankie, a true family man, was the cherished son of Francis Blassic and the late Beverly Mains. His role as the patriarch was one he took as seriously as his fantasy football league, which is to say, very seriously. He was the beloved father of Kayla (and her husband Derek) Peterson and Devin Blassic, who will carry on his legacy of perfecting the art of the dad joke. His grandchildren, Gavin Blassic and Makenzie Peterson, were the apples of his eye and the only ones who could out-goof the master himself.

He was the brother to Dawn (and her husband Paul) Wladischkin, John (and his wife Denise) Blassic, and Barbara Blassic. Together, they formed a unit stronger than any sports team Frankie rooted for, and that's saying something.

Frankie's love for his family was matched only by his passion for sports. A big sports guy through and through, he bled maize and blue for the University of Michigan. Game days were sacred, and his cheers could be heard from several blocks away. But it wasn't just about watching sports; Frankie was an avid bowler and fisherman. Many a fish in the lakes of Michigan will be breathing a sigh of relief now that he's hung up his fishing rod.

As a talented cook, Frankie knew that the way to someone's heart was through their stomach, and he wasn't afraid to use that knowledge. His kitchen was his domain, his recipes were his spells, and we were all happily under his culinary enchantment. The only thing he loved more than cooking for his family was watching them try to guess the secret ingredients.

Described as kind, warm, stubborn, and goofy, Frankie was the guy who could turn a frown upside down with a well-timed pun or an impromptu belly dance. He was the life of the party, not because he needed to be the center of attention, but because his happiness was contagious. His kind and funny nature made him the friend everyone wanted and the companion everyone needed.

In a world that often takes itself too seriously, Frankie was a breath of fresh air. He reminded us all to laugh a little louder, hug a little tighter, and never pass up the opportunity to tell a good story or a bad joke. His absence will leave a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will live on every time someone burns the roast or catches a "whopper" that's just a tad bigger in the tale than in the tackle box.

Frankie Richard Blassic, the man, the myth, the legend, has exited stage left, but the applause for his performance in the great comedy of life will echo for years to come. His final curtain call may have come to pass, but the memories he created will continue to fill the world with laughter and love. Curtain down, laughter forever, Frankie, you will be missed.
