Obituary

Emery James Henry, affectionately known as Tim, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Garden City, Michigan, at the age of 83. Born on December 3, 1941, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Tim was a man of great character and warmth, whose presence brought joy to those around him.

Tim's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Diane Henry, with whom he shared an incredible journey since their marriage on July 1, 1961. Together, they created a family foundation built on compassion and support. Tim was a cherished son to the late William Emery Henry and the late Julia Cecilia Henry. He was a loving father to Michael James Henry, Scott Henry, and Jodi Lynn Henry-Rogers (Scott Rogers), and a doting grandfather to Arren D. Hurst (Sean), Michael Scott Henry (Michelle), India Salome Henry-Rogers, Nina Olivia Henry-Rogers, and Moira Cleo Henry-Rogers. His joy was further multiplied by his great-grandchildren Lillian Henry, Sebastian Hurst, Sean Hurst Jr., Jackson Henry, and Olivia Henry.

Tim's siblings, Gary (Linda) Henry, Linda (the late Ron) Dunn, John Henry, Sue Henry, and David (Joan) Henry, will remember him for his unwavering support and enduring friendship. He will also be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings Nellie Johnson, Sylvia Thompson, Kenneth Henry, and Kathy James, who welcomed him into eternal rest.

Throughout his life, Tim was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. He spent many years behind the wheel as a truck driver, a job that he performed with pride and diligence. His association with the Moose member fraternity and the Teamsters Union reflected his belief in the value of community and solidarity among peers.

Tim's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a man who cherished simple pleasures and the company of his loved ones. His love for music was eclectic, with a particular fondness for the tunes of the 50s and the soothing melodies of Hawaiian and hula music. An outdoorsman at heart, he found solace and joy in camping, reveling in the serenity of nature. His passion for classic cars and trucks was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and nostalgia.

Above all, Tim's love for his grandchildren was unparalleled. He cherished every moment spent with them and was deeply involved in their lives, imparting wisdom, laughter, and an abundance of love. His ability to fix anything earned him the reputation of a great handyman, a skill he generously used to help others whenever the opportunity arose.

Tim was the embodiment of loving kindness, always ready with a friendly smile and a helping hand. His legacy is one of love, friendship, and handiness, qualities that he demonstrated consistently throughout his life. Those who knew Tim would agree that he was the best father and grandfather, well-loved and incredibly loving.

As we bid farewell to Emery "Tim" James Henry, we celebrate a life rich in experiences and filled with love. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tim's life story is a beautiful reminder of the impact one person can have on so many, and he will be deeply missed by all.
