Elizabeth (Betty) Livingston age 95 of Wayne, Michigan passed on January 26, 2021 at the Devonshire Retirement Village in Lapeer, Michigan. Betty was born October 7, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to James Edward Christy and Ellen Jane (Hall) Christy. Betty was the oldest of nine children and married her childhood sweetheart , Clifford Livingston on March 25, 1944. Their fifty-eight year marriage produced three sons, Larry, Kenneth and Donald, as well as six grandchildren , Tracey, Jeff, Nicole, Erik, Luke and Katie. She also had seven great- grandchildren, Annie, Alexandra, Cole, Amber, Alexander, Alyssa and Henry.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Cliff in 2002, son Larry in 2014 as well as her siblings James Christy, Doug Christy, Donald Christy and sisters Henrietta Weldon and Marion Andrzejewski. Betty is survived by her daughter in law Brenda Livingston, sons Kenn(Irene) Livingston, Don(Lynn) Livingston and her brothers Kenneth and Harold Christy and sister Carol Allor.
Betty was close to her family and there were many family gatherings. She worked in the home and also outside the home at various times. She played softball and loved to play cards and board games. She loved her visits with family and teaching her grandkids all her favorite games. Her life revolved around family and friends. She was always on the go and loved her coffee and reading until the wee hours of the morning. Betty also loved a good movie, pizza and Chinese food. She had a great laugh, many good friends and a love for life. She always seemed to make the best of any situation.
Betty's last five years were spent in a memory care unit at Devonshire Retirement Village in Lapeer, Michigan. Memory loss was extremely hard on her and her family. She rarely complained and went with the flow throughout her years there. She bonded with the wonderful staff and they treated her with respect and dignity. Betty was in hospice for the last two years at Devonshire and she received excellent care from them.
Betty will be greatly missed.
