Donald Earl Skiver, a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on January 31, 1933, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, to the late Donald and Ruth Skiver.
Donald was the beloved husband of 67 years to Dorothy Skiver (who preceded him in death). They met and married in Newfoundland, Canada, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on love, family, and dedication to one another. Their 67 years of marriage was a testament to the enduring bond they shared.
Donald was a proud father to Donna (Robert) Colaianne, Sharon (Robert) Simpson, Marilyn Wolloschlager, David (Linda) Skiver, Patricia Savage, Sean (Christine) Skiver, and Juliane (Jeffrey) Gonyea. His family was the heart of his world, and he took immense pride in watching it grow. He was the loving grandfather of James, Michael, Brent, Robert, Marc, Rebecca, Brad, Kyle, Doug, Jessica, Jannel, John, Alana, John, Kevin, Erik, Justin, Caroline, Zach and Ryan, and the proud great-grandfather of 18 great-grandchildren. Donald especially treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy even in simply watching them from afar and taking in the moments that meant so much to him.
Donald was the dear brother of the late Mary (Robert) Geroux, the late Virginia Miller, and Judy (the late Gene) Marcinkiewicz.
Donald was a steady and hardworking presence whose love and dedication helped shape generations. He was a man who never seemed to sit still for long. Whether working on a project, fixing something around the house, tending to things outdoors, or heading out for a bike ride or walk, Donald always found something to keep himself busy. He was handy, resourceful, and happiest when he had something to do. Though his family says goodbye with heavy hearts, they will carry forward the memories, lessons, and love he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs in honor of Donald's service in the United States Air Force.
