Donald Shifferd was born on October 30, 1930 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  He passed away on May 2, 2023 at the age of 92 in Superior Township, Michigan.  Donald  is survived by four sons, Daniel (Diane) Shifferd, Patrick (Kathy) Shifferd, Ronald (Amber) Shifferd, and Jeffrey (Karen) Shifferd; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy (Jarrell) Shifferd; parents, John and Rose Shifferd; and six siblings.

Donald met the love of his life, Dorothy (Jarrell), in 1950 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Donald was drafted into the United States Army in February of 1952. After completing basic training, Donald returned home to marry Dorothy on May 19th, 1952 in Angola, Indiana. He was stationed in England for 13 months and honorably discharged in January of 1954.Initially, the two lived in Ypsilanti where they began a family.

Donald was a loving and devoted husband, father and proud Pop Pop. He cared for his family deeply and cherished their time together.

Some of his happiest memories were of the family's travels Up North (Michigan) and to Kentucky. Donald loved to work on cars, make home improvements, play & watch baseball, fish, do lawn work, garden, feed backyard birds, listen to country music and watch western movies. Donald retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
