Obituary

Donald "Don" Alan Husson, former resident of Wayne passed away on April 3, 2023 at the age of 87. He was born on November 14, 1935 in Detroit MI to the late Vincent and Lila Husson.

Don loved the outdoors from an early age. He often spoke about the summers he spent on his Aunt and Uncles farm in Carsonville, MI in his teen years.  Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, shooting trap, snowmobiling, and even owned a few motorcycles in his day. His favorite pastime was deer hunting.  He looked forward to hunting season every year and spent many of his birthdays in the woods.

Prior to graduating from High School, he was hired by Detroit Edison to work in the mail room.  He retired after 45 years of service, proud to have worked his way up through the data processing department into a position in the director's office.

In 1954 he took a leave of absence from Detroit Edison and enlisted in the U.S Army.  During his enlistment he was stationed at several bases, with some of his fondest memories of his life at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.  He talked about those memories fondly and often.

In 1957 he married Lois Winkel. They moved to Wayne, Michigan in 1969. Together, they raised their four children until her death in 1984.

Don was a very organized and generous person.  Many times he sacrificed his time, money and plans to help his parents, family, friends or even strangers if they were in need.

In his later years he enjoyed traveling and was always up for a trip to Las Vegas. He was a member of the Western Wayne County Conservation Association for many years. He also enjoyed being an usher at church, socializing with friends and tinkering in the garage.

Don is survived by his children Michael (Pam) Husson, Pamela (Pat) Rawson, Nancy Essex and Bonnie (Rick) Boron.  His six grandchildren, P.J (Amanda) Rawson, Joe (Stacy) Rawson, Andrea Essex, Jamie (Josh) Bonds, Alexis Boron, and Brooke Boron; and eight great-grandchildren,  Kayden, Myah, Lucas, Zoey, Lexi, Leah, Kylee, and Gianna.  He is preceded in death by his wife Lois Husson, parents Vincent and Lila, and two sisters Joanne Lowry and Carol Husson.
