David Allen
Sanders
June 26, 1952 – December 4, 2024
David Allen Sanders, a man who lived his life with the kind of humor that could light up even the darkest of rooms, has taken his final bow on December 4, 2024. Born on June 26, 1952, in Highland Park, Michigan, David was the kind of person who could find a punchline in the mundane and a reason to smile on a rainy day.
David, a Highland Park native, spent his final moments in Taylor, Michigan, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived and well-laughed. He was preceded in passing by his beloved wife of over 25 years, Sharon Sanders, who surely has been waiting with a smirk for his arrival. He joins his father, Delbert Sanders, his mother, Katherine Travis, and siblings, Ronnie and Bonnie Sanders, in a place where the laughter never fades.
He leaves behind a legacy of joy and jest, carried on by his sister, Karen MacLearn, his nephew James Strickland, his nephew, Donald (and Andrea) MacLean, niece, Jennifer Burke, step daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Duka, grandchildren, Annmarie, Justin, and Brandon, and sister-in-law Donna Vonbehren. Each of them learned from David that life is too short not to laugh, even if it's just at yourself.
David's love for the great outdoors was as vast as his collection of camping gear. He believed that a night under the stars was a night well spent, and that the best stories were shared around a campfire. His camping trips were less about the wilderness and more about the wild stories he'd conjure up, each one leaving his companions with aching sides and happy hearts.
He was a man who never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh, whether it was through a clever quip or a ridiculous antic. David joked about everything, and his humor was as infectious as it was relentless. To be in David's presence was to be in a state of perpetual amusement.
As we say goodbye to David Allen Sanders, let's honor his memory by living as he did-with cheer in our hearts and a joke on our lips. He may have left the stage of life, but the echoes of his laughter will resonate forever in the stories we share and the smiles we pass on. David, here's to you, the man who taught us that life doesn't have to be serious to be seriously well-lived.
