On August 22, 2026, Darnell Westley Ritchie, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 58 in Wayne, Michigan. Born on September 3, 1967, in Wayne to Karen and Darnell Sr. Darnell was lovingly raised by Karen and Michael Denton, who became a devoted and influential father figure throughout his life. Darnell lived a life rich with love, laughter, and a relentless spirit that inspired everyone around him.
Darnell was dedicated to his family, treasuring every moment spent with his children-Ashley (Maurice) Tuddles, Holly (Wes) MacDonald, Jake (Sandra) Thorne, Darian Ritchie, Alyssa (Camden Brunson) Ritchie, Makayla Ritchie, Darnell Ritchie III, Mattie Ritchie, Annalisa Ritchie, and Angelina Feola. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Maurice, Donte, Emily, Ja'Kobi, Lola, Bri'Leigh, and Sailor, who will always remember him for his infectious laughter and his ability to light up any room.
A natural storyteller with a fondness for dad jokes, Darnell was known to all as the "fun uncle," a title he wore proudly. His goofy sense of humor and unmistakable charm had a unique way of brightening the darkest days. Beyond laughter, Darnell was fiercely protective of his loved ones, always ready to lend a helping hand or shoulder to lean on.
In addition to his family life, Darnell had a passion for motorcycles and was a proud silver and gold enthusiast. Ambitious to the core, he navigated life with gusto, earning him the affectionate moniker of "bad motherf*cker" from those who admired his unwavering spirit.
Darnell is survived by his beloved aunts, Lisa Osborne and Joyce (Don) Cook, brother, Woodrow (Tina) Ritchie, sister, Angel Denton, along with numerous nieces, nephews: Heather (Brent), Brooklynn, Evelyn, Kennedy, Woodrow Jr., Serenty, Mike, Westley, Richard, Robert, Kody, Ryan, Kyrie, Royce, and Antonio (Kayla)-each of whom carry cherished memories of his compassionate heart and unwavering loyalty.
As we gather to remember Darnell, let us celebrate his life, sharing stories and laughter-the things he cherished most. In honoring his memory, we will carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and ambition in our hearts.
Darnell was preceded in death by is beloved wife, Kimberly Ritchie, and parents, Darnell Sr., and Karen Denton.
