Obituary

Clarence "Woody" Woods Jr., a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, in Plymouth, Michigan at the age of 84. Born on December 13, 1940, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to Clarence and Gertrude Woods, both of whom predeceased him, Woody was a man whose warmth and dedication to his family defined his life.

His marriage to Betty Woods was a love story for the ages. Having fallen in love at first sight, they were united in matrimony on an auspicious Friday the 13th in October 1965. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared passions. Woody was a loving father to his sons, Jeffry (Liz) Woods, and the late Robert Woods. He also took immense joy in his role as a papa to Nathaniel Woods, whose presence brought him immeasurable happiness.

Woody's journey through life was one marked by devotion and a steadfast work ethic. A proud Navy veteran, Woody served his country with honor aboard the USS Sullivans. Following his military service, he joined the Wayne County Sheriff's office as a Deputy. His dedication to his work was evident in his decision to further his education, earning an Associate's degree from Schoolcraft College. Woody then embarked on a career as a security guard for General Motors, where he remained a loyal and respected employee for over 25 years.

Woody was a man with a deep appreciation for history and craftsmanship. His love for antiques and restoration was not only a hobby but a way of contributing to the community. He volunteered his time and skills at the Henry Ford Fairlane Manor, where he worked on interior restoration projects. His passion for preserving the past also led him to assist with the restoration of historical trains in Clinton, Michigan, ensuring that future generations could appreciate the rich heritage of the area.

Known for his dependability and kindness, Woody was the epitome of a loving man and a handyman. Whether it was a broken appliance or a friend in need, he was always there to lend a helping hand. His willingness to help and his ability to fix just about anything earned him the love and respect of all who knew him.

Woody's legacy is one of love, service, and dedication. He was a man who adored his family, enriched his community, and lived a life full of purpose and joy. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind.

As we say goodbye to Clarence "Woody" Woods Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he created with each of us. His story is not one of an ending but a lasting influence that will be felt for generations to come.
