It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of Charles Cross on October 17th, 2023. Charles was born on November 25th, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the cherished son of Talvage and Mary Bell Davis Cross. Charles graduated from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, with the Class of 1966. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and was initiated into the Delta Xi Chapter at Central State University on December 11th, 1964. He was an active member of the Gamma Lambda Alumni Chapter in Detroit, and a life member since 1972, LM#1043. He was also a member of the Prince Hall Free & Accepted Mason. After graduation, Charles started working for Ford Motor Company at the Sharonville Plant in Cincinnati, Ohio, and later moved to Michigan to work there as a Vehicle Trimming Process Specialist. He worked for Ford for 35 years and retired in 2001. Charles met his future wife, Cynthia Lorraine Pearson, after college, while she was attending Knoxville College. They got married on April 26th, 1968. They had two children, Michelle Laverne Cross and Charles Pearson Cross. Charles was a devoted member of St. Clements Episcopal Church in Inkster, Michigan, where he and his family attended service. He served on the board of the Men's Guild and was the Vice President at St. Clements Manor. Charles is survived by his wife Cynthia, his children Michelle (Missy) and Charles (Chucky), his son-in-law Craig Lyew, his sister -in-law Marta Troutman, and Angela Pearson Gray. He is also survived by his nephews Michael and Bryant Troutman, his nieces Taylor and Spencer Gray., and a host of other family and friends. His brothers Milton, James, Talvage, William, and Leander preceded him in death.
