Carol Smith (Harner) of Canton was born on April 18, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. She passed away on August 28, 2021 at the age of 79 in Wyandotte, Michigan surrounded by her family. Carol was raised in Wayne, Michigan, and was a graduate of Wayne Memorial High School, Class of 1960. Carol was married to the love of her life, Jerry Smith, for 61 years and now joins him in heaven along with her daughter Karen Smith and Granddaughter Chelsea Gilbert. Carol Worked for Wayne Westland Schools for 31 years as a secretary at many schools throughout the district and then retired as the bookkeeper/accountant for William D. Ford Vocational Center. Carol was a long time member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Wayne and volunteered at the St. Mary Outreach Center. Carol was an active member of the Wayne Garden Club, an avid gardener, loved to read, loved traveling with her family and attended everything her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was the kindest person and went out of her way to help anyone who needed her. Carol leaves behind her two loving daughters, Sharon (Ron) Gilbert of Wayne and Nancy Smith of Plymouth. She also leaves behind two loving grandsons who were the loves of her life, Robert (Bob) Lesperance and Trevor Gilbert. She is survived by a brother, Dennis (Sue) Harner of Gainesville, Florida, a sister, Lori (Mark) Sims of Water island, Virgin Islands and preceded in death by her brother, Rick (Cynthia) Harner.
