Betty Jane
Winkler
February 24, 1931 – January 11, 2024
Betty Winkler nee Kerchinski was born on February 24, 1931 in Saint Marys, Pennsylvania. She passed away on January 11, 2024 at the age of 92 in Wayne, Michigan.
Betty was known to have a good sense of humor by her family and friends. She loved the Detroit Tigers and watched them on TV often. She was a dog-lover, and had many dogs throughout her life. She enjoyed many of the simple pleasures of life: bingo, karaoke, playing Yahtzee, and doing crafts. Betty enjoyed a good meal, especially roast beef or a juicy hamburger- and don't forget the ice cream for dessert! But more than anything, she loved her daughters. She was loved by many of her caregivers throughout her life, especially those at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Wayne.
Betty was a devout Catholic and was a member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Westland for many years before its closing.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Denise Winkler and Sharon Winkler, three siblings, Alice Jankowski, Walter Kerchinski, Andrea Tatum, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, Walter and Mary Kerchinski, and sisters, Doris Kerchinski, Shirley Barbish, and Mary English.
