Obituary

Arla Nichole Powell passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 49. Born on August 1, 1976, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Arla's life was a testament to the power of compassion and the enduring strength of family bonds.

Arla's journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Richard Eugene Miller and the late Gay Lynn Campbell, and she was further loved and supported by her stepfather, Chuck Campbell. Her formative years were shared with her siblings, Richard Miller, Robyn Miller, and Amy Campbell, who together built an unbreakable family foundation that would guide her throughout her life.

Arla found her soulmate in Jason Dwight Powell, and together they welcomed their pride and joy, daughter Anya Renee Powell. Arla's love for her family was immeasurable, and she embraced every moment with them, creating a home filled with laughter, learning, and unconditional love.

Her professional life was dedicated to serving others as she worked in home care and hospice. Arla's passion for her work was evident in the gentle care she provided to those at the end of their life's journey. Her empathy and warmth were a comfort to many families during their most challenging times.

Despite her commitments, Arla's greatest achievement and source of joy was being a mom. She instilled in Anya the values of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness—qualities that Arla herself exemplified every day. Her legacy as a mother is one of nurturing and guiding with a gentle hand and an open heart.

Arla's interests were as rich and varied as her personality. She was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of her favorite books. Her love for travel often led her to the vibrant city of New Orleans, a place she held dear for its culture, history, and the Saints, her beloved football team. As a history buff, she delighted in learning and sharing stories of the past, connecting the dots of our collective human experience.

Arla's extended family, including her father-in-law Bobby Powell, sister-in-law Georgina Calhoun, and nieces Charley, Paige, Teia, and Erin, will remember her for the joy and care she brought into their lives. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Arla Nichole Powell will be remembered as a woman who lived her life with purpose and grace. Her loving, kind, and thoughtful nature touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. As we bid farewell to Arla, we celebrate the profound impact she made on the world and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars continue to shine long after they have gone.
