Obituary

Ann L. Haines, a spirited and independent soul, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Wayne, Michigan, at the age of 90. Born on December 23, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, Ann lived a life characterized by love, creativity, and a fierce sense of individuality. She was the beloved daughter of the late Melvin and Beatrice Pfeifle and the cherished wife of the late Duane Haines, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage until his passing in 2010. Ann and Duane celebrated their union on February 11, 1956,  a day that marked the beginning of a family legacy filled with love and laughter.

Throughout her life, Ann was known for her feisty and lovably calm demeanor, a unique blend that endeared her to all who knew her. Her honest and blunt nature was a testament to her authenticity, and she never hesitated to speak her mind, regardless of the circumstance. Ann was a woman who followed the beats of her own drum, living her life unapologetically and encouraging those around her to do the same. Her independence was fierce, and she took pride in her ability to navigate life on her own terms.

Ann's greatest joy came from her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. She is survived by her three devoted children: Terence  (Peggy) Haines, Joann (the late Jeff) Jackson, and Colleen (the late William) Stone. Ann's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Justin Jackson, Jason Jackson (Nicole Burney), Stacy (Cody) Flores, and Shannon (Bruce) Arquitt. She was also the proud great-grandmother to Maya, Hunter, Gracey, and Kensley, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Ann's creative talents were evident in her passion for crocheting and quilting. She found immense pleasure in crafting beautiful afghans, many of which she gifted to friends and family, leaving behind tangible pieces of her love and artistry. Her quilts were a testament to her patience and attention to detail, and she took great pride in each completed piece. Ann's hands were rarely idle, as she found solace and satisfaction in the rhythmic motion of needle and thread.

A lover of travel and adventure, Ann cherished her time spent at her house in Florida, where she found peace and tranquility. She was an avid road tripper, always preferring the open road to the confines of an airplane. Her journeys often took her to the scenic beauty of Michigan's West Branch and Roscommon areas, where she enjoyed the serenity of nature and the warmth of the community. Ann's love for exploration extended to craft shows, where she would spend hours browsing and gathering inspiration for her next project.

Ann was also an avid reader, with a particular fondness for mystery thriller books that captivated her imagination and provided countless hours of entertainment. Her love for shopping was well-known, and she delighted in the simple pleasure of browsing through stores, often finding joy in the hunt for unique treasures. Ann's life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences, woven together by her love for family, creativity, and adventure.

Ann L. Haines leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and creativity. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, her stories, and her unwavering love. Ann's life was a testament to the beauty of individuality and the power of love, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved, and her memory will be a guiding light for generations to come.
