Alan Roy
Dorow
February 21, 1943 – February 17, 2026
Alan Roy Dorow, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Belleville, Michigan, just shy of his 83rd birthday. Born on February 21, 1943, in Romulus, Michigan, Alan's life was a testament to the enduring values of love, hard work, and curiosity.
Graduating from Romulus High School in 1961, Alan was known for his ingenuity and his knack for mastering any task he set his mind to. This quality led him to be recognized as a jack of all trades-a man who, if he didn't know how to do something, would surely find out. His hands were rarely still, as he was always involved in a project or learning something new.
Alan's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and hunting, activities that brought him great joy and peace. A lover of the land, he cherished the time spent on his farm.
Perhaps one of Alan's most endearing qualities was his role as a family man. He was the loving husband of Martha Kay Dorow for 42 years, a bond that was a beacon of dedication and mutual respect. Together, they raised a family that includes sons Scott (Lisa) Dorow, Brian (Tammi) Dorow, Garry (April) Hoskins, James Dorow, and daughter Lynne Schiffour. Alan's legacy continues through his 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley (Charles) LeMay. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, George Emmanuel Dorow and Martha Dorow, as well as his siblings, Myron Dorow, Alvin Dorow, Lois Drayton, and Barbara Richardson.
Alan's life was characterized by his loving nature, his handy skills, and his intelligent approach to every challenge. To his family, he was an all-around good guy, someone they could rely on for support, guidance, and a hearty laugh. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
