After Care

Angela Hospice Bereavement Support

Bereavement Care

The loss of a loved one is emotionally painful for all persons involved.    When death occurs, family members and friends often struggle to understand the loss and the overwhelming emotions that accompany it.

The process of grieving varies in intensity and length from person to person.  It is the goal of the Angela Hospice bereavement team to help relieve a family’s emotional pain and assist them as they begin to look forward to the future.

Both hospice staff and specially trained volunteers give supportive care and counseling to family members and loved ones for 13 months following a death.

 Bereavement Care Services:
Caregivers Support Group*
When a person is dying, there are a number of responsibilities that will fall upon family members.  To ease the burden on loved ones, the Angela Hospice bereavement team will provide coping strategies to help a family face the challenges of caring for a dying person.  These sessions are by appointment only.

Grief Support Groups*
Grief support groups are designed to give loved ones the skills needed to understand their grief and cope with their loss.  Grief support groups meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:00pm and 6:30pm at the Angela Hospice Care Center.

*NOTE: Both support groups are free-of-charge and open to the community.

Personal Contact/Emotional Support
Our staff has trained ears and open hearts, and offers additional support through personal visits and one-on-one counseling sessions.
